A big thank you to everyone who has supported the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal this year. All of the boxes have now been delivered to Samaritan’s Purse’s depot in Talbot Green.
Seion Chapel’s congregation, along with friends from the community of Maerdy, contributed 23 boxes (including postage costs) and £166. Thank you to everyone who took part.
But we are also very grateful to our friends in the Fern Partnership (The Hub) who also supported the appeal. They donated an additional 13 boxes (including postage costs). Thank you to Ceri, to the other staff at The Hub, and indeed to everyone who contributed to making up those boxes.
On Sunday 13th November Seion Chapel had our ‘Shoebox Sunday’ service. In it we watched a clip showing how the boxes are sent to children in different parts of the world, and prayed that the boxes we had sent out would be a blessing to the children who received them. We also considered together the Parable of the Lost Sheep, and how much God values and loves us. He loves us so much he sent Jesus, the good shepherd, who laid down his life for us (John chapter 10 verse 11, the Bible). There was a short craft activity to finish off the service.
